Patients admitted to the Respiratory Wards at University Hospital Coventry will now have access to 3 brand new RITA ICU systems, thanks to your donations

The RITA system consists of a 10” tablet on a special trolley that can be placed directly at the patient’s bedside. It provides a host of entertainment and music options, enables the patient to call their family and has the added benefit of being able to project these items onto the ceiling when the patient is lying flat.

May Parsons, Matron said “Thank you UHCW Charity! Our new RITA systems will benefit our patients  as a means of supporting them and reducing their feelings of agitation, isolation, depression and delirium. RITA will help to calm and stimulate patients using sounds, music, imagery and content appropriate to the individual”

RITA is aimed at offering support for confused patients and it has seen significant evidenced benefits, including supporting dementia care mapping, reduce length of stay and supports dignity, respect and wellbeing for those patients at the end of life.

Thanks to your support, UHCW Charity can continue to provide funding for innovative technology that makes things better for staff, patients and their families. Donate here.
