13 Year Old takes on Snowdon for Neonatal Unit

We were thrilled to receive a cheque from 13 year old, Joseph Friday after he climbed Mount Snowdon with his Dad.

Joseph was born 14 weeks early 13 years ago and spent 3 months in the Neonatal Unit at UHCW University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire. His life was saved on several occasions and he received fantastic care by the staff. He has always wanted to give something back to the unit as a thank you and wanted to raise money by completing a big challenge.

Joseph developed chronic lung disease as a result of his premature birth and needed the help of a ventilator in early life. Now he is doing really well and lives a normal, active life but climbing Mount Snowdon was a huge challenge. Joseph underwent a lot of training to ensure his lungs were ready to take on the challenge.

Joseph and his family presented UHCW Charity with a cheque for over £1,200 which will go directly to the Neonatal Unit and used to support babies and their families in the future just as Joseph wishes.
