We all know how stressful the Covid-19 pandemic has been for NHS staff and looking after the wellbeing of our hard working teams has never been more important.

Thanks to your donations, staff at UHCW now have access to 3 Virtual Reality (VR) headsets designed to enhance their wellbeing.

In 2021 staff at UHCW were asked to come up with ideas to improve staff wellbeing. They were invited to pitch these ideas in a Dragons Den style event called Penguino’s Pitch. One of the ideas presented was for VR headsets, which have been proven to relieve stress, help with anxiety and reduce the risk of burnout.

VR headsets can instantly transport the user to beautiful rivers, lakes, rural locations and even on an exciting dinosaur safari! They offer staff the chance to take a quick break away from their busy jobs, allowing them to refocus their mind and de stress.

UHCW Charity have now funded 3 VR headsets for use at University Hospital, Coventry and at the Hospital of St Cross in Rugby and they are already being put to good use.

Feedback from staff has been overwhelmingly positive, with 98% of users saying they would recommend them to colleagues.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my virtual reality experience. After using it I now feel calm, peaceful and grounded.”

“I feel I was allowed to escape for a while from our busy stressful day”

“Great fun. Good idea for workplace well-being.”

Thanks to your support, UHCW Charity can continue funding projects like this to enhance staff wellbeing, so they can continue supporting patients and their families. Donate here.
