Writing Or Updating Your Will

50% of adults in the UK haven’t written a Will and 50% of those who have will never update it after the first time it has been written. Whatever your age, an up to date, professionally written Will is incredibly important. It is the only way to ensure that your  wishes are carried out after you die and that you provide for your loved ones in a way that you intend.

Leaving a gift to University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire Charity

£4 in every £10 we spend on enhancing patient care is donated through a Will and it is only with this continued support we can carry on this work.  The person helping to write your Will, will offer you appropriate advice,  you may also  find it helpful to refer to the sheet we have prepared for leaving a gift to University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire. Your Bank

A lot of the larger banks now offer the opportunity to write your Will in your local branch. Contact your bank to find out if they offer this service.

Updating your will

Adding a gift in your will to University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire is very simple.

  1. You need to fill in a ‘Codicil’. This is a supplement to your original Will that can make changes, amends and allow additions. Complete
  2. Alternatively you can make a new Will entirely.

We recommend that you consult a solicitor prior to completing the Codicil, especially if the change you are making is a large one. By informing a solicitor of your wishes, it may avoid legal disputes later and ensure your wishes are carried out as you intended. If you do not have your own Solicitor and would like more legal advice about legacies and creating Codicil’s you can contact The Law Society on 0207 242 1222 or visit their website at www.lawsociety.org.uk.
