Does your business have a home for a collection box
13:00 22/08/2012An appeal has been launched to find local businesses to take a collection box and help enhance care for local people in University Hospital, Coventry/ Hospital of St Cross, Rugby.
Collection boxes are just one of the ways UHCW Charity raises money to enhance and improve patient care by funding new equipment, research and facilities that the NHS cannot afford.
Last year more than £5,000 was raised by hospital charity from boxes in newsagents, hairdressers, pubs and offices etc across Coventry and Warwickshire/ Rugby and Coventry.
“ Each box can raise between £30-£60 a year” Chanel Nickols from UHCW Charity said “and because we come and empty them regularly, the loose change is immediately put to work caring for patients - this also means there is never too much in a box at any time “
Sites that tend to collect the most money through collection boxes are newsagents; chip shops, public houses, café’s and post offices. With some office environments also raise money by placing them in the staff canteen.
Amongst the funding UHCW Charity has given in the last year is a canopy over outside play area for children in hospital, a picture, seating for patients in the hospital grounds, foot and hand print of premature babies on the 100th day of life for mums and dads and gym equipment for the cardiac rehabilitation programme.
To be one of the local businesses that help continue this vital work please call Chanel Nickols on 02476 966055 or email uhcwcharity@uhcw.nhs.uk
